In Ancient Rome it was a sacred thing for a teen to shave his first beard. It was done in a public manor as a sacrifice to a deity. The person was always viewed differently after the ritual. They were look at as an adult. The hairy body was seen as something desirable because it was warlike and masculine, however, those who shaved their legs where seen as beautiful and feminine. Here are a few options beside shaving that may help you.
There are several alternatives to shaving. One of the alternatives is sugaring or epilation. This was used by women in Egypt in 1900 BC. Sugaring can be less painful than waxing because the mixture sticks to hairs and not skin. Sugaring consist of sugar, lemon juice, honey or molasses and takes some practice to get the consistency right. Once you do you smooth it on your legs and strip, much like waxing, using a porous cloth or paper in the opposite direction of hair growth.
You can always use hair removal creams like nair. With these products you spread the cream on you legs and let them sit for so many minutes and then you wipe them off. These are chemical based and actually by breaking the disulfide bonds that keep hair in one piece so the hair disintegrates. This is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to get rid of body hair on a temporary basis.
There are some more permanent options. These options are flawed, however. They are usually expensive too. The most common would be laser hair removal, then there is Electrolysis, and Intense Pulsed Light. These all use types of lights and lazer and sometimes chemicals to remove the hair down to the folicle. This process helps to curb the growth of hair but it sometimes doesn't work or needs to be done several times.
