Advice On Hair Loss

Are you losing your hair? This is a common problem faced by over 2/3 of men and many women at some point in their life. In this article I will cover the steps you can take to try to stop this annoying problem.
Losing hair can be very detrimental to your self confidence. I know, because I myself am losing my hair. You constantly check in the mirror, trying to reassure yourself that it isn't happening. Luckily, though, once you admit that there is a problem, there are treatments that work.
The first treatment is called minoxidil. This is just the technical name for Rogaine. You apply this solution (they also have foam now, but I use the liquid) twice daily to your scalp. Within about four months, you should start to see results. The only problematic side effects that I have noticed were that I had a lot of dandruff for a while as the product started to work.
The next treatment available is propecia. This is a once daily pill that inhibits a chemical called DHT which kills off your hair follicles. This is not a cheap medicine, but it does work. It can take up to a year to get the DHT out of your system, but it is approved by the FDA which is a big plus.
You can also get a hair transplant. This is not for me though, as it is expensive and looks to be quite painful. This is the greatest chance you have of getting back your hair though. I would recommend doing more research before you go along this route.
Overall, losing hair is a disheartening experience, but if you start treatments early, you may be able to stop it. I would do research before you decide on any of these treatments. There are many products out there that prey on men's insecurity of going bald, and they don't work at all. The treatments listed above are the only ones approved by the FDA and are proven to work.

These are all well-taken treatments, but does anything really work? I guess it depends on the person.
