Today the days of desktop computers are over. There are not many who would spend on buying a desktop today since the prices of laptops have fallen. So why do people choose a laptop

Advantages
1. A laptop occupies less space and hence fits well in a home decor
2. It is portable and so you can carry it to your workplace and back to home
3. There is a backup power in a laptop built in and hence you can work even where there is no power source
4. They are stylish and in the current trend

Which one to buy
Though people are knowledgeable on the advantages that a laptop delivers they are quite sure which one to buy. We will try to guide and advice on that in this article

1. Size: When it comes to the screen size (LCD display) of a laptop size matters. If you thinking of a cute little device that you can carry around everyday you might want to think of lesser sized screens. But if you are planning to watch a movie on it then it better be among the bigger ones like 17 inches. The size of the screen determines the size of the laptop too (not its thickness but the length and breadth)

2. Weight: When someone plans a laptop as just a desktop replacement and content with it being in one place most of the time, he wouldn't worry much about the weight, but if you are the one who plans to move the laptop around, then check out the weight and make sure that it does not exceed your expectations!

3. Processing Power: Most home users are content with browsing using their laptop. They might not need the latest processor if it is too costly compared to the previous generation. A dual core or a quad core does not improve their usability by large but sure can make a big dent in their bank balance

4. Hard disk space: This is of a bigger concern for most of us. The ability to store a lot of things inside the laptop is good. Now a days we see laptops that have in excess of 300 GB of storage. While it is not a absolute must (you can buy a separate storage later) it is a nice to have feature. A 120 GB hard disk is a bare minimum and since most of us have cameras that have megapixel in excel of 10, we might be putting the hard disk to good use.

5. Network: Almost all modern laptops come with integrated WLAN, Bluetooth and an ethernet port as well. This ensures that your laptop can become truly wireless with keyboard, mouse and the internet connection. It also makes sure that you can browse in the hotel that you visit which has WiFi enabled.

6. Speakers, Microphones and Camera: Most laptop speakers are bad, but make sure that it is at least audible enough. Microphones and Camera are nice to have integrated in the laptop for those chat session with your relatives.
